Mr. Abrams & Company talk Trek at Trekmovie.com

25 01 2008

How awesome is it when you can share your passion for something with others?  To have them see what drives you and what is a catalyst for your creativity and imagination is something truly special.

As I have never been a film maker, I cannot say that is the primary driving force of making pictures, but for those who make really well done films, I bet it is an important part of it.  I do know from writing that when a piece is written that gaines praise, it’ll be a piece that I wrote that I have genuine interest, passion and excitement for.  That also is beginning to present itself in photography for me.  I love photographing things that I have an interest in and am passionate about.

So it goes with all forms of creativity.  You present what you’re passionate about, what you’re interested in and hope that people take notice and enjoy the work you’ve done.

This is what has happened over at trekmovie.com – a site that I’ve known about for nearly two years now that has brought info on the many aspects of Star Trek.  From the remastered TOS episodes to the first hints of the new film all the way to today…

Today, J.J. Abrams and crew, the ones who are currently filming Star Trek, took time to answer questions posed by visitors to trekmovie.com.  How awesome is that?  First that shows that the crew who now are at the helm of Trek are committed to the franchise and the fanbase.  Second, the realize the publicity it generates and the attention it draws to the film.  Third, it must really be cool for Anthony Pascale, creator and administrator of trekmovie.com.

I applaude the work of Mr. Pascale, his dedication to bringing news and views on Star Trek has been tremendous.  Trekmovie.com is one of the sites I check every morning after waking up.  He has allowed fans of trek to communicate with each other via the comments section on each post, and has gained the attention of those who are involved with Trek to speak to the Trek community through his site.

Two posts this week really impressed me, those were of the interview with James Cawley, Executive Producer of Star Trek: New Voyages, and also the Q&A with Mr. Abrams & Company.

Whatever your motives Mr. Pascale, you have really made a fine site and provided Trek fans a sounding board and internet gathering that other sites just could not do.  I mean honestly, how cool is it that they chose to do this at trekmovie.com rather than some Paramout corporate site that would have come off as completely staged and vague.

If you get a chance, go over to http://www.trekmovie.comto read the Q&A session…it’ll prove interesting and you never know what you’ll find out.  Keep going to trekmovie.com for updates, even when the official site begins providing information, trekmovie.com will still be the starting point for me.

J.J. Abrams & Company’s Q & A this afternoon at Trekmovie.com

25 01 2008

Trekmovie.com will be hosting J.J. Abrams and company for a Q&A this afternoon starting at 4:00 pm EST.

The questions are being taken now at the site and as many as possibly can will be answered by Mr. Abrams and various members of the Trek team.

So that this post won’t pingback to the comments section, I’ll just put up the http://www.trekmovie.com link and just click the headline about the Q&A.

Fake Star Trek Trailer….but it’s pretty good.

10 01 2008

Trekmovie.com has posted on their site a trailer for the upcoming Star Trek movie.  It was labeled as the one coming out with the movie Cloverfield on January 18, but is indeed a fake according to Trekmovie.

But never the less, it’s pretty cool.

 Check it out: http://trekmovie.com/2008/01/10/when-will-pirated-star-trek-trailers-show-up-online/

Plants on other worlds not necessarily green.

12 04 2007

concept for an alien planet's landscape.

MSNBC is carrying a story that scientist theorize that other planets outside our solar system may contain plant life of different colors.  The idea is that not all plants would be green and it depends on the type of star a planet orbits.  Science in the last ten years has discovered many solar systems throughout the galaxy.  Now they’ve recenlty discovered that the first one found could contain water.  Eventually by studying the light waves, it can be determined if planets support life.

Possible new starship Enterprise (from Trekmovie.com)

P.S. It could all simply be an April Fool’s Joke.  So keep that in mind.

Update (9:31 pm EDT):  It in fact was an April Fool’s joke.  oh the havoc it wreaked!

Star Trek XI – December 25, 2008

17 03 2007

December 25, 2008 is a long way off.  But it is a day that I am most looking forward to.  For this is the day that Star Trek’s eleventh movie debuts in theaters.  The now much anticipated movie being produced and directed by Lostcreator J.J. Abrams will be a historic event for the Star Trek universe.  There is much speculation as to what this movie will be about and who will star in it.  Will it be a prequel?  Well, we know that it will not.  However, it will feature Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scotty to some extent.  Is it a relaunch like Batman Begins?  Maybe, but again we do know that this new movie will respect Trek canon.  But if it is relaunched as well as Batman was, then I’ll wait optimistically until 12/25/08.  Meanwhile, a good site to go to is www.trekmovie.com.  This site has so far been the best in my opinion with movie news and with updates on the Star Trek: Remastered episodes.
